Job Description

MATERIALS ENGINEER required by CareerWise Recruitment for our multinational medical device client at their Global Engineering hub in Cork. All worldwide engineering is managed from its Cork plant. Initial 12 month contract on offer. The MATERIALS ENGINEER is responsible for leading break-through materials technology related projects with particular focus on the development and validation of novel metal forming processes (e.g. powder metallurgy / additive manufacturing processes).

Role of this position

  • Project Leadership responsibility for process design, development and validation projects
  • Apply Engineering, Materials and Process knowledge to the design, development & validation of innovative metal-forming technologies that are scalable across the global manufacturing network
  • Foster collaborative relationships with Source, Procurement, Research & Development, Engineering and Operations to facilitate development and validation of manufacturing processes
  • Engage with key technology partners to develop processes that best support the delivery of business objectives
  • Manage key project stakeholders throughout the business through effective and timely communications of meaningful data
  • Develop medium- to long-term strategy for materials-related technologies
  • Development of business cases and resourcing plans for new process-development projects

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • BEng in Engineering or BSc in Material Sciences with 6+ years’ experience within a medical device company or similar regulated industry

or Ph.D. qualification in Material Sciences or in Engineering with ?4 years’ experience within a medical device company or similar industry
  • Project management experience
  • Process and/or product development and validation experience
  • Must have strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Experience of integration of R&D Programs into manufacturing operations
  • People leadership experience
  • Demonstrable experience of / knowledge in of metals and associated manufacturing and testing processes
  • Extensive statistical and problem solving engineering expertise (Six Sigma, SE or A3)
  • Process Excellence/Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt) Certification is preferred
  • Ensure all activities comply with GMP, ISO and quality system requirements
