If you are hoping to work in the pharmaceutical industry, it can be a common misconception that a science degree is essential. However, although this is vital for some positions, it is not mandatory for all roles within this sector.

1. Look for positions. Search for jobs in the industry you are interested in which do not specify that a science degree is a requirement for the position. People who have transferrable skills are often considered since they will be given the training they need for a specific post in most situations.
2. Be prepared to learn. If getting a science degree is not something you want or can do, consider other ways in which you can develop your education to suit a role in the pharmaceutical industry. Many organisations offer targeted courses in further education or to develop specific skills.
3. Follow your dreams. When you’re considering a career change, don’t let yourself give up on your dreams because you imagine that you need certain qualifications or skills that you do not have. Look into training opportunities if these are vital, and apply for positions where your experience and passion will be the most important factors.
