CIPD Midwest Breakfast Morning

CareerWise Recruitment proudly sponsored a CIPD Midwest breakfast morning today, where Peter Cheese Chief Executive of CIPD UK & Ireland addressed CIPD Mid West Members.

Mary Connaughton, newly appointed Director of Ireland CIPD was in attendance and it was a very informative and enjoyable event.

About Peter Cheese

Peter Cheese joined the CIPD as Chief Executive in July 2012. He spent 30 years working at Accenture, culminating in a 7 year spell as Global Managing Director leading the firm’s Talent and Organisation Performance Consulting Practice. He also held various executive sponsorship positions for Accenture’s firm-wide skills and capability development programs, and the firm’s global Human Capital and Talent Strategy.

After leaving Accenture in 2009, Peter held a portfolio of consulting and non-executive roles. During this time he was also appointed Chairman of the Institute of Leadership and Management, a post he stepped down from on his appointment to the CIPD, whilst remaining as a Board member.

Peter sits on the Council of City & Guilds, and he is a European Board Director with Junior Achievement Young Enterprise Europe, an organisation focused on the development of entrepreneurial, financial and employability skills in young people through business engagement in schools and universities. He is also an Executive Fellow at the London Business School, associated with the faculties of Strategic Management and Organisational Behaviour.

Joe Robbins

(Director) BBS (Hons), MBPICS – Shannon Office

Joe Robbins is co-founder of CareerWise Recruitment. A graduate of the University of Limerick (Degree in Business Studies, 1985), Joe worked in the UK for five years where he specialised in materials management, production management and plant management for a number of companies.

He returned to Ireland in 1992 to become Operations Manager for a Cork-based start-up, FMC Automotive Division which was subsequently taken over by Snap-on Equipment. Joe managed the business re-location of this company to Shannon in 1997 before setting up CareerWise Recruitment in 1999.

He is a committee member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Mid-West region, and a former Director and Vice President of the Shannon Chamber of Commerce. Joe is former Chairperson of the Sixmilebridge Camogie Club and current Chairperson of the Clare County Camogie Board.
