Cork Chamber held its 195th Annual General Meeting on Monday May 12th in the Imperial Hotel. The event marked the re-election of Chamber President, Ms. Gillian Keating, for the second of her two year term as well as the announcement of Barrie O’Connell, KPMG as the Chamber Vice President. The AGM also saw the election of four new board members. Gillian Keating (Chamber President) welcomed Ken Murphy (CareerWise Recruitment) and the other three new members (Bill O’Connell, EMC, Albert Diggin, BOI and Paul O’Connell, Quintas) to the Board.
Addressing the meeting Ms. Keating said;
“Cork Chamber has immediate priorities at this time including influencing and supporting the newly established Cork Airport Development Council which has a key role in ensuring first class connectivity for the region. Developing adequate flood defences following the devastating winter floods and ensuring Minister Hayes follows through on his commitment to make Cork his number one priority Flood Relief Scheme for the country and invest €50,000,000 to assist the Flood Defence Scheme. Cork Chamber is working to ensure that this promise is delivered upon in a timely manner. Cork Chamber also renews its commitment for 2014 to support the SME sector and will continue in its efforts to ensure access to finance, skills and resources to fully support this sector.”

Ken Murphy graduated from University College Cork in 1987 with an Electrical Engineering degree before moving to the US as a Network Design Engineer with BellSouth Corporation. His return to Ireland in 1989 heralded a career which concentrated on the multinational sector, and involved working with companies such as Apple Computer, Cabletron, FMC Automotive, Moog, General Semiconductor and Technicolor.
Ken is a specialist in quality management, purchasing, logistics and supply chain management. He has significant expertise and experience in managing the changing demands of the global media, electronics and automotive sectors at operational and project management levels.
Ken leads CareerWise Recruitment’s Cork operations. He has served on local and national committees of IPICS (The Supply Chain Management Institute), CIPD, the Cork Electronics Industry Association (CEIA), and has completed a three-year term as Chair of the UCC Alumni Board.
Ken has recently been elected as a Director of the Cork Chamber for a four year term to help promote business and drive policy objectives for the Cork Region
