Athlone Laboratories recently opened its new antibiotic manufacturing plant in Ballymurray, Roscommon.
The €5m development will support the growth of the company in terms of new products and geographical footprint.
Athlone Laboratories is part of the DCC group of companies and has been making antibiotics since 1974. It has a workforce of 140 and is one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of oral beta-lactam antibiotics in Europe.
The company says the new facility incorporates specialised manufacturing capabilities, which reflect advances in technology, as well as doubling the company’s manufacturing capacity.
Joe Robbins is co-founder of CareerWise Recruitment. A graduate of the University of Limerick (Degree in Business Studies, 1985), Joe worked in the UK for five years where he specialised in materials management, production management and plant management for a number of companies.

Joe is former Chairperson of the Sixmilebridge Camogie Club and current Chairperson of the Clare County Camogie Board.
