Online furnishing and homewares retailer Wayfair is to create 160 new jobs in Galway
The company will create approximately 160 new jobs in the Galway area as it scales its workforce to keep pace with rapid growth in Europe.
Wayfair already employs more than 200 people in the city. The company is expanding to a larger premises on the Tuam Road and will recruit new staff in the coming months.
The IDA Ireland backed investment will see Wayfair hiring call centre personnel for the European market. It is also offering a number of marketing and sales positions.
Globally, the company employs more than 2,000 people, with a presence in the US, Britain, Australia and Germany. In recent times, it has been focusing particularly on the German market.
As well as selling home fixtures and appliances, Wayfair also offers a number of dedicated design and furnishing websites.
It opened its European Operations Centre in Galway in 2009 and has expanded steadily in Ireland since then.
