Top 3 Tips On Overcoming Interview Nerves
As someone who experiences high levels of interview anxiety and has successfully passed many interviews – I’m a bit of an expert on this topic!
Here are my 3 top tips.
- 𝗣𝗣𝗣 – 𝗣redict the interview questions, 𝗣repare your answers and 𝗣ractise delivering them. Doing preparation in advance of the interview can give you confidence and you know you are putting your best foot forward.
- Get your 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗲𝘁 on board. Don’t tell yourself you “have to get this job” or that “it’s your only chance” – you are putting yourself under too much pressure. Change your mindset – firstly, if they called you to interview they obviously think you are a strong candidate for the position. Secondly, there will be more opportunities. Finally, either way you’ll be getting interview practice and getting better at it!
- 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝘀 – Amy Cuddy is an American Social Psychologist and her research shows that adopting an open and strong body posture for a few minutes before an interview can make you feel more confident and perform better. Arrive early and try out the power pose in a private spot (like a bathroom) before the interview. See her Ted Talk link for comments here Amy Cuddy Ted Talk
