Job Description

HEALTH & SAFETY LEAD required by CareerWise Recruitment for our BioTechnology client to support a new project in Limerick, the requirement is for 24-36 months. The HEALTH & SAFETY LEAD will translate (and represent production/maintenance/etc.) health and safety requirements in a construction environment through knowledge of user requirements in Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology manufacturing.

Role of this position

  • Oversight and understanding of contractor management systems
  • Ensure compliance with safe systems of work e.g. Permits systems, working at height, and implementation of best practice in the areas of personal safety and injury prevention e.g. ergonomics.
  • Investigate and provide legislative guidance during incident response.
  • Review process and equipment changes to identify potential E,H&S impacts.
  • Ensure company compliance and continuous improvement in H&S standards by auditing and review of the Health and Safety management systems and programmes.
  • Provision of Health & Safety technical advice to management and workforce through interpretation and application of legislation, industry good practice guidance and corporate policies.
  • Deliver high quality Health and Safety training and technical support to support H&S programme development
  • Health and Safety reviewer/approver on manufacturing related documentation relevant to construction/production facility operation e.g. Job Hazard Analysis, SOPs, Work Instructions, Batch Records etc.).
  • Oversee development and continuous improvement of hazard identification, risk assessment and other programmes to meet regulatory and corporate requirements in addition to implementation of industry best practice.
  • Development of systems, programmes and standards to meet the requirements of existing and future legislation and corporate policy standards.
  • Support a mature safety culture with integrated safety practices and open safety conversations

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
  • Good IT skills and knowledge of standard software packages (eg Microsoft Word, Excel)
  • Experience of operating within an integrated cross-functional H&S organisation
  • Practical implementation of Health and Safety management systems and internal audit programmes in a construction environment
  • Demonstrated good planning and organisational skills, ability to prioritise tasks, commitment to task completion and timelines.
  • Must have an ability to deliver training to varied audiences
  • Must show initiative - ability and willingness to introduce new and modified programmes
