PROJECT MANAGER with a Mechanical or Electrical background and prior experience managing a portfolio of small to medium site based capital projects in the field of facilities, utilities and general site infrastructure required by CareerWise Recruitment for our multinational medical device client in Limerick, initial 12 month contract on offer. The PROJECT MANAGER will have experience of leading end to end capital projects in the field of facilities, utilities and general site infrastructure and will have experience in contract management of a third party project management service provider. They will also have experience and knowledge of working in a regulated environment (pharma or medical devices).

Role of this position

  • Lead the conceptual phase of a project in close cooperation with the business stakeholders in order to deliver strategic solutions aligned with the business strategy.
  • Understands the project intake process, solutioning and how projects should meet the Business Need, Prepares for Stage Gates, and the development of the selected option for budget approval following the applicable processes.
  • Establishes alignment with Sponsor, agrees management of Key Partners, and aligns Core and Extended team to deliver the Final Project Objectives

Define and lead a multidisciplinary team (internal/ external) to drive the project, in line with applicable E&PS Project Delivery Processes..
  • Ensures timely delivery of resources and budget through the appropriate (local) approval process; and provide visibility on portfolio and planning of projects to a third party project management service provider to assign project managers timely
  • Ensure regular communication with the Sponsor and aligns on communication to Key Partners on all aspects of projects, maintains project communications and prepares information for Key partners in alignment with Leadership
  • Define KPI's (safety, budget, schedule) at project level and monitor progress on individual projects with respective external project managers and provide support as needed to resolve issues

  • Discuss, agree and implement improvement actions with Sodexo in case performance is lacking
  • Ensures that appropriate Risk Management methodology is applied by the external project management service provider to identify and manage risks to Final Project Objectives, including resource issues, conflicts and other obstacles, communicating with Sponsors, Functional Managers, Core and Extended Team members to agree appropriate resources
  • Ensures that the external project management service provider coordinates the design, execution and close out of all project related activities including managing internal resources and the procurement of third party contractors, suppliers and consultants and tracks the project to plan against Final Project Objectives including, but not limited to safety, scope management, contract and construction management, legal and corporate compliance, quality, project controls, commissioning, qualification and validation of FDA and other agencies regulated facilities including technology transfer and regulations governing product manufacturing through operational handover
  • Ensures that the external project management service provider applies the appropriate change management process and aligns requests for changes with Sponsor, Core and Extended teams
  • Ensures that Project Close Out activities are completed by the external project management service provider including operational handover archiving, and financial project close and collation of benchmarking and lessons Learned and provide feedback to ensure continuous improvement via lessons collection and lessons adoption
  • Identifies Learning and Development opportunities to enable progression towards Highly Capable Leadership
  • Assists in the evaluation of the value delivered versus the value identified in the Business Need, collating lessons learned from a Business perspective

Role of this position

  • A Degree in Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited institution is required
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
  • Minimum of 5 years of Project Management experience
  • Prior experience managing a portfolio of small to medium site based capital projects in the field of facilities, utilities and general site infrastructure
  • Good understanding of Project Controls in cost and schedule development, financial assessments and managing of Budget and Schedule
  • Experience from design through startup in a regulated environment
  • Experience and skills on contracting and negotiation
  • Experience in contract management of third party project management service provider
