An experienced RTR Accounting Manager is required by CareerWise Recruitment for our Cork research-based Biopharmaceutical client.
Reporting to the RTR Senior Manager, this position will be responsible for the General Ledger accounting for one or more entities within the International GFS. In addition, this role will include preparation of statutory reporting for a number of Irish entities reporting under FRS 101 (2 complex 4 less complex) and review of statutory reporting for a number of markets.

Role of this position
- Maintains ledger integrity and ensures financial compliance with the worldwide Controller's manual and to all applicable laws and regulations
- Ensure financial records are in compliance with GAAP. Consistently maintains appropriate internal controls and upholds company policies and procedures including Worldwide Controller's manual
- Responsible for the timely and accurate review and posting of month-end close and accounting transactions; P&L and balance sheet account analysis, review, reconciliation and resolution
- Responsible for the accounting and reporting requirements under U.S. and local GAAP a
- Responsible for the end-to-end statutory financial statements preparation process for 6 entities reporting under FRS 101 (Reduced disclosure IFRS)
- Responsible for the review of statutory financial statements for several markets as required.
- Responsible for the operational oversight of Fixed Assets and Leasing area's during ERP project interim period.
- Responsible for the preparation of US census reporting per reporting schedule.
- Maintaining bridge of US GAAP to FRS 101 adjustments.
- Assist market finance team with technical accounting issues relating to leasing and other IFRS / statutory accounting queries
- Working with Controllership to prepare technical memos to support IFRS disclosures where judgement is involved.
- Experience in a global finance function of a multi-location, multinational corporation.
- The development of strong relationships with key stakeholders, in particular with market finance teams across EMEA, APAC and US. Ability to quickly establish credibility with and influence diverse audiences.
- Contribution to the definition and maintenance of key performance indicators (KPIs) and the establishment of a continuous improvement culture
- Interacts successfully with internal and external auditors and supports quarter-end, interim and year-end audits by providing timely and accurate data and communication
- Evaluates processes and recommends and implements process improvements
- Helps develop, maintain and assess internal controls related to Gilead's accounting and financial reporting systems
- Interacts successfully with non-financial personnel as well as with internal and external auditors
- A champion for the Shared Services philosophy and architecture for Finance
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - the ability to work effectively across multiple functions and different cultures
- Support the preparation of monthly operations decks for one or more entities
- Contribute to the preparation of monthly flux reporting packs.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, CPA or CIMA)
- FRS101 and US GAAP experience essential
- 5 Years PQE in a similar environment
- Experience in the preparation of Financial Statements is vital
- Management experience in a large Accounting team
- The ability to meet strict deadlines in a timely and efficient manner
