Job Description

Utility Engineer / Lead required by CareerWise Recruitment for our Life Science client in Limerick. Contract role. Utility Engineering is core to delivering a right first time facility start up and continued support of ongoing manufacturing operations in to the future.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe working environment and helping improve the safety culture.
  • Provide utility system engineering expertise as an active member of area team.
  • Clean system unit operations are maintained and are in a qualified and reliable state.
  • Establish and monitor the critical parameters for all clean systems to ensure that these are in control.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve equipment and operational issues.
  • Evaluate all activities for impact on qualified state of equipment and utilize appropriate tools as necessary.
  • Provide Engineering support to the Global Facility Delivery team with a strong focus on right first time and on schedule facility start-up (e.g. design reviews, process safety assessments, User Requirements, C&Q support, Unit Operation Shakedown, Facility Run Rate Readiness)
  • Define and own relevant aspects of the overall integrated Operational Readiness Plan
  • Own the Performance Qualification strategy and execution for area of responsibility
  • Support initial Operations Training requirements as the Equipment and Area SME
  • Be the point of contact and be the technical expert for equipment/processes in utility areas. This includes clear understanding of unit operations and equipment.
  • Monitor the utility systems and optimise the unit operations and equipment performance.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts relating to unit operations and equipment issues.
  • Utilise formal problem solving techniques, including Root Cause Analysis, to resolve unit operations and equipment issues.
  • Respond to unit operations issues and equipment failures, document appropriately and ensure resolution of events through appropriate actions.
  • Communicate effectively with others, especially team members, operations and crafts personnel.
  • Evaluate all activities for impact on qualified state of unit operations/equipment and utilise appropriate business processes as necessary (change control etc).
  • Responsible for system/component classification and maintenance strategy for equipment.
  • Implement corrections, corrective actions, and countermeasures arising from investigations.
  • Lead IQ/OQ/PQ activities (including commissioning activities of new unit operations/equipment)
  • Develop scope for capital projects targeted at both short and longer term needs. Act as user representative for local projects.
  • Identify and drive improvement opportunities (procedural changes, upgrades, projects etc) associated with unit operations/equipment within the area.

Requirements:
  • Basic Qualifications Degree qualified (FETAC Level 8) - Mechanical / Process / Chemical / Bioprocess Engineering degree with ideally 5 -10 years' relevant experience in Utility / Process Engineering Comment0 Additional Skills/Preferences
  • Deep technical interest and understanding in the field of Large Molecule Manufacturing and Bioprocess Engineering.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a Process Team consisting of a diverse group of management, production, science, quality and engineering professionals.
  • Creativity to identify improvement opportunities and the tenacity/initiative to see them implemented.
  • Guidance/mentoring of others through processes.
  • Drive Utility area continuous improvements; capital projects and reliability upgrades.
  • Maintain a strong network of peers (within and outside of Eli Lilly).
  • Communication skills.
  • Develop and implement innovative approaches to problems.
  • Process hazard identification/mitigation skills.
