Taking part in the Limerick Pieta Cycle Brendan Long (CareerWise Recruitment) and Marian Leonard Long (Pieta House)
Pieta House hosted their inaugural Pieta 100 Cycle which took place on Sunday, September 27th in three locations around Ireland – Limerick, Cork and Galway. Over 1,000 people from across Limerick donned the lycra and got on their bikes to take part.
The Pieta 100 National Cycle Weekend in Limerick raised much needed funds for the local Pieta House service. Each venue, all of which are homes to a well established Pieta House, hosted two routes – a 50km route for the ever increasing number of leisure cyclists out there and a more demanding 100km route for those with more experience under their saddle.
Heading West, those who opted for the 50km route took the coast road towards Askeaton, followed by Rathkeale, Adare and on to the final stretch back to Mungret GAA club. Meanwhile, those doing the more gruelling 100km cycle took the coast road towards Loughill, followed by Newcastle West, Rathkeale then followed the same route home via Adare.
Participation in this unique event ensures those in communities up and down the country who are suffering from suicidal ideation or engaging in self-harm have the best support possible. Well done to all involved from CareerWise Recruitment.
