Some people love them. Others—okay, let’s be honest, most people— dread them. No matter what way you feel about them, knowing how to prepare for a performance review is essential to get the most out of it.
In this article, I explain why performance reviews matter and offer 10 performance review tips for employees to help you succeed during your next evaluation.
Remember performance reviews can be a hugely valuable opportunity to talk with your manager, zero in on your goals for the coming year, and get clarity on how exactly to achieve them.
When discussing your salary increase, tie it back to your contributions and the value you bring to the company. Be prepared to provide evidence supporting your request, such as industry salary benchmarks for your position or examples of increased responsibilities. Approach the conversation with confidence and professionalism, and be open to negotiating terms that are mutually beneficial.
Good luck with your performance review!
